Liver.?This showed marked areas of congestion. When I passed my hand into the abdominal cavity to get behind the liver 1113' fingers were arrested by what turned out to be bands of adhesion which bound about an inch of the upper surface of the liver to the abdominal wall^ of the diaphragm. These bands were about three-quarters of an inch in length. On cutting these bands I was able to draw up the liver. About the central part of its dome there was a small area half an inch in diameter which was much softer than the rest of the organ. Into this I plunged the scalpel and opened up a small abscess cavity. The rest of the organ was highly congested. The gall-bladder was full of bile. Mesenteric glands.?They were all much enlarged, but were very pale. Spleen.?Was greatly congested. (See further notes.) I then opened the thoracic cavitj\ Lungs.?The left lung was normal. The
